![]() How are mtools suppose to access Boch images files? I'm using Bochs 2.2. It is an ideal alternative to the MS-DOS - based rawrite.exe and fdimage.exe, both in ease of use and OS compatibility. DiskWrite is useful for creating bootdisks for installing Linux, FreeBSD or any other operating system. However, when I attempt to access 20M.sample with mdir I get a "non DOS media" error (linux terminal shell listing generic]$ mdir -i test.bin ::Ĥ41 856 bytes generic]$ mdir -i 20M.sample :: DiskWrite is a utility for writing floppy disk images within Windows 95, 98, NT4 and Windows 2000. I get Bochs started off of a bootable floppy and then do "fdisk" and "format" on the 20M.sample image file so that Bochs can boot from it. As something to compare against, I use dd to load in a bootable 1.44 MSDOS floppy disk and save that to test.bin. Depending on the boot sector it may also be impossible. Where exactly the kernel.bin file is located within the image file depends on the boot sector. This means: The file must contain the boot sector (bootf02) in the first 512 bytes and the kernel.bin data somewhere else. So, I create an hd image file with bximage and call it 20M.sample. The file you enter must be the image of the floppy disk or the hard disk. img files that I can write to a floppy using rawrite, but where the files are compressed on the flop. ![]() I know that imgburn doesnt use compression. Bochs documentation says that you can use mtools to access its hd image files. img) and create the partition with disk part command, using steps to create OS drive partition Create ISO file or BIN file from hard disk files or CD / DVD / BD. img files that are comprised of files that are compressed.
